Microsoft has just released a new preview build of Windows 10, this time for members of the Dev Channel Insider program and thankfully with some additional features.
Windows 10 build 21370 comes with an enhanced Bluetooth audio experience, as Microsoft says it has specifically tried to offer a unified audio endpoint on the operating system.
“No more clicking through multiple audio endpoints for your Bluetooth headset’s voice and mic to work properly. We now only expose one audio endpoint in the UI and will automatically switch to the right one for you, for a seamless experience. Listening to Spotify and then having to make a phone call? You can now directly control the volume of your headphones” the site explains.
Also, this version comes with an AAC codec for a wireless audio experience. Although Windows 10 already supports another high-quality codec, AptX, many audio devices do not. Notably, Apple headphones – including Beats – exclusively use AAC as a high-quality option. So this is great news for this audio lover.
Apart from that, this new version has other minor changes and improvements, as well as many fixes, but also known issues. For example, Microsoft says it has improved the touch keyboard launch animation to make it a bit smoother, while also introducing small adjustments to the File Explorer address bar icons.
Lots of Fixes This Time Around
You can check out the full changelog in the Microsoft article. Regarding known issues, there are two important issues for Linux users who use WSL on their devices. “We are working on a fix where WSL users have noticed that File Explorer launch performance has deteriorated after upgrading to Build 21354 and above. Some instances of Windows Subsystem for Linux may fail to launch with a “Parameter is incorrect” message. This known issue is tracked here on the WSL repository” the company explains.
You can download the new Windows 10 preview version from Windows Update now if you are part of the Windows Insider Program Dev channel.
