Why is BeReal being copied by everyone, and what is it?
Every week it seems like new social media apps are released, yet many of them are short-lived. BeReal has amassed enough popularity that much larger social networks are taking note of it thanks to a novel and straightforward idea. Why is she so unique?
BeReal was created by former GoPro employee Alexis Barreyat and debuted in 2020. However, it didn’t really start to pick up speed until early 2022. It has more than 10 million daily active users as of August 2022. See why people find it to be so appealing.
How is BeReal put to use?
BeReal is a social media software for iOS and Android that emphasizes authenticity. In a totally different way from other photo-sharing apps like Instagram, it accomplishes this through sharing pictures.
There is a 2-minute window each day for posting a photo. When this window opens, BeReal notifies all users simultaneously at a different time each day. Although you are not required to publish every day and you are free to post outside of the designated window, your post will be marked according to how late it is.
How you take pictures with BeReal is another intriguing feature. It shows you and your surroundings using the front and back cameras on your smartphone. Each BeReal includes the individual’s perspective and a tiny selfie in the corner. There are no hashtags, and the majority of users don’t post captions, but if you like, you can include your location.
There are no photo-editing tools or filters because authenticity is the goal. Just snap a picture using the front and back cameras and publish it. Only the ability to snap new photos and remove messages is available.
Additionally, trading with other BeReals users is incredibly simple. You can respond to one of five “RealMojis,” which are only ordinary emojis, or you can make your own “Instant RealMoji” by including a brief selfie.
The BeReal app is divided into two sections: “My friends” and “Discovery” in relation to other users. While the “Discover” page is effectively a live stream of public BeReals, the “My Friends” tab just displays the BeReals of people you’ve added to your friend’s list. Messages can be sent to everyone or just your pals.

The Copycats are Approaching
Social media app rivals have taken notice of BeReal’s prominence. “Stories” have appeared on numerous apps, and everyone wants to mimic TikTok. The following target is BeReal.
Instagram and Snapchat have been using BeReal’s dual camera technology since August 2022. Sincerity is damned, this feature alone is not a novel concept. Back in 2013, the popular iOS app “Frontback” utilized a similar dual-camera design. The timing, however, makes it BeReal’s obvious response.
Using a function dubbed “IG Candid Challenges,” Instagram hopes to advance things. Actually, this is a clear distraction from BeReal, which asks users to publish once per day in a two-minute interval. really creative
Is BeReal the only option for copying? Clearly, the idea of getting front and rear images at the same time is not straightforward. What distinguishes a daily photo from others when there are already so many methods to post images and movies on these other platforms? BeReal is more laser-focused than Instagram and Snapchat simply isn’t.
The Real Social Networking Site
This is the BeReal narrative. Being genuine is key, which most other social media apps don’t encourage. There aren’t any algorithms or filters made to tempt you. There is nothing but you and what you are doing right now.
BeReal’s challenge will be to keep things simple. Both Instagram and Snapchat had very basic ideas when they first launched, but they continued to add functionality as time went on. Will BeReal be able to resist the need to add more features? Time will only tell.
BeReal now offers a fun method to share your life and keep up with your friends without the extra features that have turned social media into a chore.
