Now Gmail Blue Verification Icons Also Show
Gmail will start showing a familiar-looking blue checkmark almost the sender’s name to verify their identity. In a weblog post, Google is adopting a new identity system in Gmail that allows the sender’s email address to be ticked.
The blue checkmark, which resembles the ones seen on social networks like Facebook and Instagram. Was designed to help users determine if the sender is a legitimate business or a scammer. Verified blue badges for Gmail have already started rolling out. And will be available to paid Google Workspace users as well as anyone with a standard Google account.
The new email verification system in Gmail is part of the Brand Indicators for Message Identification (BIMI) initiative launched two years ago by Google. Instead of using generic profile avatars for email senders. Google has started asking businesses and organizations to verify their identity and get a special profile picture featuring the brand logo.

A Positive Step Towards a More Secure Electronic Mailbox
Users can thus easily identify whether the sender is a trusted entity, such as a banking institution or an educational institution. Companies that have already been verified by BIMI will soon receive their blue badge. The addition of a check mark for the email address is essentially an additional visual identifier, which builds on the trust factor that the blue check mark symbol has established over the years on the internet.
Scams and phishing attacks carried out via e-mails cause losses of hundreds of thousands of euros each year.
Google’s BIMI and badge initiatives aren’t foolproof, but they go a long way to solving the identity theft problem. Google will only award brand logo avatars (above) and a blue check mark to applicants. Who have already implemented the Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance (DMARC) system and have also been approved by external certification authorities such as Entrust or DigiCert.

Twitter Owner “Elon Musk”
Twitter, now owned by Musk, is the platform that really popularized. The trend of verified accounts with a distinct blue check mark. This sign is synonymous with authenticity and credibility. But under Musk, that tick has become a mainstream commodity. That any online troll can buy for just $8 a month.
Gmail is presenting verified checkmarks starting today to Workspace accounts and personal Google accounts. So you may soon see blue checkmarks invading your emails.
