Later this week, the tech community from around the world will descend on Las Vegas for the Consumer Electronics Show of 2018. The world will get to see the latest and greatest the tech world has to show for itself. Here’s what you can expect to hear about.
CES is the playground in which all of the tech companies, little and big, get to show off what they think will become the next big hit. Undoubtedly you will see and hear a plethora of information regarding bigger, thinner, and better-looking TVs from all of the major manufacturers. (There is rumored to be an 8K 88” OLED TV from Samsung.) A vast amount of new computer hardware and computer gaming peripherals will be showcased. Everyone and their mother will be showcasing their concept electric vehicles (which may or may not ever see the light of day). Smart home tech, including smart mirrors, thermostats, lights, and smart speakers will be showcased as better than ever. Virtual Reality (VR) headsets/mobile devices could see some serious improvements as well.
Intel has already pretty much confirmed that the next generation of Wi-Fi capable networking chips will be unveiled. The next generation is supposed to be more reliable with support for more wireless devices than ever. (Which is definitely something to look forward to.) Do not get too excited, as we won’t see this new standard really implemented until next year.
Affordable smartphones that perform competitively with top-tier devices will get some time in the spotlight.
Typically, each year there is some item/concept/service that flies under the radar, but becomes the next Snapchat or Facebook. This year there has been no wishers or small talk of what that could be. That is what makes CES as popular as it is today.
We will have coverage of all the groundbreaking tech that is showcased on the floor, and media outlets across the world will have almost 24/7 coverage for the next week. What are you excited for? Do you think there will be any major surprises? Let myself and other readers know below!
