The Best Wireless Earbuds for Physical Activity
Finding that one pair of headphones that get the job done, while still being affordable can be difficult. Jaybird, however, may have hit the nail on the head with the Jaybird X3. Here is what the Jaybird X3 Wireless Sport Earbuds have to offer.
The Jaybird X3 Wireless Sport Earbuds are Jaybird’s third iteration of their X Series Wireless Sport Earbuds. As compared to the X2s, the X3s sport a new design, a redesigned 6mm driver, and a stronger Bluetooth antenna, for better connectivity. Before I switched to the X3 for my workout, which includes walking, running, and weight lifting, I was using Bose’s Wired Sound Sport Earbuds. The Sound Sports definitely fit my ear better, but because Jaybird included 3 different sized support wings, rubber ear tips, and comply foam ear tips, I managed to get a pretty good fit to my ear. During workouts, and pretty intense head movement the X3s stayed in my ears and I never felt as if they were going to fall out. However, your mileage may very as ear size and fit is not an exact science, and is different for everyone.
Jaybird claims the headphones get around 8 hours of playback time, and I have found that to be pretty close to real-life expectations. To charge the headphones, Jaybird has made a charger that clips onto the back of the play/pause inline controller that is located next to the right-channel earbud. Be careful with this charger, as it is the only way to charge your headphones, and if you lose it, you will have a serious dilemma on your hands. The sound stage for the headphones is decent right out of the box, however, it is very easy to change with Jaybird’s MySound mobile app. You can select a multitude of sound profiles, and update your X3’s firmware so that sound profile is saved no matter what device you are listening to media on.
Overall, the X3 is a significant upgrade over my previous Bose Sound Sports. Now, Bose does make a wireless pair of Sound Sport Earbuds, but the design of the earbuds was heavy and off centered for my ears and they never felt secure in my ear. If you are looking for a cheaper, but still great pair of wireless pair of sport earbuds for your workouts or serious physical activity, the Jaybird X3 Sport Earbuds are your choice. They retail at $129.99, but look around as they have been on sale for as low as $89.99. If you decide to purchase the X3s, let me, and other readers, know what you think, below!
