Apple Delays its HomePod Home Speaker
Earlier this year in June Apple unveiled its newest product that began to enter the wide-ranging field of smart home tech. Apple dubbed the device “HomePod,” and it quickly caught the attention of many because of its strengths. Unfortunately, it might be some time before customers can get their hands on one. Here’s what you need to know.
Late last week Apple released a statement to several media outlets saying that the device would be delayed until early 2018. HomePod was originally planned to be released at the end of December this year with a price tag of $349. The device has a unique cylindrical design with a complex audio system comprised of seven tweeters, and a four-inch subwoofer, and an array of microphones that Apple claims would pick up a user’s command from across the room. A leak in the source code showed that the device has a touchscreen atop of the device with built-in Siri integration, and it will run its own variant of iOS.
It is not entirely clear as to why Apple made the move to delay the device, but it wouldn’t have been taken lightly with the holiday season days away. Nonetheless, it is most likely for the best, and it is important for Apple to get this done right the first time. Needless to say, if you were looking at purchasing the HomePod for the holidays start looking elsewhere.
What do you think of the delay? Do you still plan on purchasing a HomePod when it becomes available? Let myself and other readers know below!
