Apple Could Have a Major MacBook Pro Overhaul in the Near Future
A new report that was first reported by Bloomberg claims that the new MacBook Pro that has been rumored for some time is in the works. According to people with “first-hand knowledge” of the update claim that it will bring major new changes, but it could take a little longer than expected.
First reports arose a few months ago, and were very bold. The reports claimed that the new MacBook Pro would would gain a touch screen bar in place of the function keys. As more reports came out, mock-ups began to appear and the possibilities seemed quite positive. In Bloomberg’s latest report, the people with “first-hand knowledge” confirmed that it will have an OLED touch screen bar with customizable functionality. The report also said that the new laptop could have a fingerprint sensor somewhere on the touch screen bar or in the power button, a rumor that has also been circulating for a few weeks.
It was thought that the new laptop could be announced to the public on September 7th when Apple is also expected to announce the iPhone 7 and possibly an iPhone 7 Plus. In the latest report the people with “first-hand knowledge” claim that it will not be announced in September, but it will be at a later date this year. Looking at Apple’s past this could make sense. September is usually reserved for iOS announcements like the latest version of iOS, new iPhones, and any other updates. Whereas October is reserved for Mac announcements like the new macOS, new Mac products, and updates to current product lines. The claim that the refresh is not happening in September is a possibility and there is also the possibility that Apple will hold another announcement in September, but that is very unlikely at this point. If the new laptop is not announced in September, I would expect the announcement to come in early to mid-October.
With this being the first major overhaul in over four years, many people are very excited. If you are in the market for a new MacBook Pro I would HIGHLY suggest waiting until this fall if at all possible. We will also keep you up to date with any other news or rumors with the possible refresh!
