Android Marshmallow

Google announced that the M in Android M stands for Marshmallow. The new update was first shown at Google I/O this May and is scheduled to be released this fall. Google has also announced that the new update will be called Android 5.2 Marshmallow with a new preview that can be loaded onto Nexus devices today. Android users will have to "manually re-flash their Nexus devices to a factory image to continue to receive over-the-air updates", says Google.

Marshmallow will include a simpler view on permissions, Google's new Android Pay feature and USB Type-C support. Marshmallow is bringing new under the hood features its predecessor Android 5.0 Lollipop lacked with its user interface changes. Google is reportedly working on two new devices to showcase Android Marshmallow news features.
