Google Maps and Search Allows businesses To Send Messages Directly To Their Customers
A day after Google Maps extended its social functionality with the rollout of a new “community feed” that brings together the latest reviews, photos and posts submitted to the app by local experts, the platform is now ready to receive a new one feature direct mail which allows verified businesses to communicate with customers directly in the application.
In announcing this new feature, Google said, “Starting today, we are implementing the ability for verified businesses to send messages to their customers directly from the Google Maps app. As soon as you enable messaging from your business profile, you can start replying to customers on Google Maps from the business messages section under the “Updates” tab. And soon, you will also be able to view your messages directly from Google Search and send messages to customers directly from your computer”.
According to Google, business owners can now update their business profile directly from Maps or Search to better communicate with their customers. Once you have enabled messaging from your business profile, you can start responding to customers on Google Maps from the business messages section under the “Updates” tab, he said.
Soon, businesses will also be able to view their messages directly from Google Search from the “Customers” menu of their company profile and send messages to customers directly from their account.
Google also makes it easier for customers to get the information they want from businesses. As part of this plan, users can now start a conversation from any position created by a company, in addition to starting a direct conversation with a company by clicking or pressing the “Message” button on their company profile. They’ll also be prompted to send a message if they try to call a business, but don’t get a response.
A more social Google Maps
Direct messaging is the latest feature added by Google Maps as part of the company’s plans to make service more comprehensive for customers and business owners.
This new feature comes just a day after the addition of a new section called “Community Feed” that features the latest information on local restaurants and watering holes, personalized to each user’s interests.
