Apple’s Planned Obsolescence Continues To Bother Apple!

Apple’s intentional slowdowns affecting older iPhones continue to cause headaches for the Cupertino-based tech giant as another group of consumers move to sue Apple over planned obsolescence of iPhone 6s, Phone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, and iPhone 6s Plus.

This time, the group suing Apple is Altroconsumo, which has decided to ask for at least 60 euros on average from the consumers concerned. Eurocojnsumers, the consumer group involved in the litigation, says the ruling follows similar lawsuits in Belgium and Spain for the same reason.

Euro consumers are coordinating no less than three trials and are planning a fourth in the coming weeks. The organization says it also wants to sue Apple in Portugal for planned obsolescence.

“When consumers buy Apple iPhones, they expect quality products that last. Unfortunately, this is not what happened with the iPhone 6 series. Not only have consumers been conned, and faced with frustration and financial harm, but from an environmental perspective, it’s also totally irresponsible,” said Els Bruggeman, Policy and Enforcement Manager at Euro consumers.

“This new trial is the latest affront in our fight against planned obsolescence in Europe. Our request is simple: American consumers have received compensation, European consumers want to be treated with the same fairness and the same respect”.

A Decision Made Too Quickly

It goes without saying that Apple has remained completely sealed off from these new lawsuits, but it goes without saying that such news cannot be good for the company.

Apple intentionally slowed down older iPhones in an attempt to address battery degradation, all without user consent. The company then sent out iOS updates that included more information about it, while also launching a special battery replacement program offering such repairs at a reduced price.
